‘Advocating for Women & Girls of Sacred Worth’ - June 17, 2015
Healthy Families, Healthy Planet, an initiative of the United Methodist General Board of Church & Society focused on global maternal health, will host a training, “Advocating for Women & Girls of Sacred Worth,” Saturday, July 25, in Lincoln, Neb.
The free training, the second in the Great Plains Conference, will bring together people of faith from across Kansas and Nebraska to build a movement that responds to the plight of women's health and education around the world through education and action.
Healthy Families, Healthy Planet Ambassador Advocacy Training is designed to bring together faith leaders from across Great Plains Conference to strengthen local movements for a healthier world for mothers and their children.
As Christians we uphold the scriptural truth that women and girls are children of God with sacred worth. Sadly we know that many lack the resources they need to experience lives of health and abundance. As the body of Christ, we are called to care for one another (1 Corinthians 2:25), starting with caring for those in our communities and extending that care to those around the globe. The training is free, but space is limited. Deadline to register is July 20. All people of faith in Kansas and Nebraska are eligible to attend.
The free training will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 25; meals will be provided. Monday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to noon will be an optional advocacy visit. To register, go to Advocating for Women & Girls of Sacred Worth.
